Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • ¾ teaspoon tea leaves I use Taj Mahal tea
  • 1 lemongrass stalks and leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp. ginger grated
  • 1 tsp. sugar or maple syrup
  • ¼ cup plant-based milk or milk

Instructions

Instructions to Make Lemongrass Ginger Tea

  • Take 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and add 1 lemongrass stalks with leaves chopped in it. Also add a teaspoon of grated ginger in the water.
  • Allow to steep for 10 minutes, and you will get a pale liquid. Or you can also boil it on low heat for about 5 minutes. Then strain out the liquid.
  • Your aromatic ginger lemongrass tea is ready. Add sweetener of choice or skip it and consume.
  • Another way would be to add a tea bag when you will allow the lemongrass and ginger to steep.
  • Remove the tea bag when the liquid looks pale brown. Then continue to steep lemongrass.
  • Finally strain and add sweetener and consume your delicious lemongrass tea.

Instructions for Indian Lemongrass Chai

  • First take 2 cups of water and let it come to a boil. Add lemongrass leaves and crushed stalk along with grated ginger to the water.
  • Lower the heat and let it brew for about 3 minutes. Now add about ¾ tsp. of tea leaves or 1 tea bag. Turn off the heat and allow to steep for 3 minutes.
  • Place it back on the heat. Add about ½ cup of plant -based milk or milk. Add sweetener to taste. Let it come to a boil and turn off the heat.
  • Strain the tea and serve. Your aromatic and flavorful Indian lemongrass ginger chai is ready to have. Enjoy.

Notes

  • You must add both leaves and stalk of lemongrass. Crush the stalk to release more flavor. I end up using one lemongrass stalk each time.
  • You can skip milk and sugar, but I do love this Indian way of making lemongrass chai especially during summer.
  • You can add a dash of cinnamon powder if you like while brewing the tea.
