Easy Mushroom Stir Fry Recipe

Mushroom is a favourite of mine and a part of my regular diet. Whether it is mushroom omlette, mushroom stir fry or mushroom masala, it is pretty regular on my dining table. It is also perfect in my Thai and Chinese stir fries. Here is a 10-minute mushroom stir fry recipe that uses simple ingredients and is super tasty.

You can add other veggies too my favourite being broccoli to make broccoli and mushroom stir fry using the same recipe.

Easy Mushroom Stir Fry Recipe

This is a super easy and quick mushroom stir fry recipe that is perfect for an evening snack with beer or just as an appetizer. It is wholesome and tasty.

Ingredients

  • 200 gm. button mushroom sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. basil leaves chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper freshly powdered
  • 2 tbsp. red wine optional
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan. Add minced garlic and fry for 30 seconds.

  2. Add sliced mushroom along with fresh pepper, half of basil leaves and salt.

  3. Your mushroom will release water. Add red wine (if using) and cook on high heat for a minute.

  4. Take the mushroom out in a plate. You can cook the sauce some more say about 2-3 minutes after sprinkling lemon juice on it.

  5. Now spread the thickish sauce on the mushroom and serve hot garnished with remaining basil leaves.

  6. Your mushroom stir fry is ready to be eaten.

Recipe Notes

  1. Don’t overcook the mushroom. They should stay juicy and plump.
  2. You can use dried basil or any other Italian herb of choice in case you don’t have fresh basil at hand. Dill or rosemary are good too.
  3. I like to use a slosh of red wine when I am feeling indulgent but it is optional and no need to use if you don’t like to use red wine in your cooking.
  4. You could do the same stir fry using other veggies like broccoli, zucchini etc. Just remember that they will require more cooking time.
  5. You could substitute olive oil with butter if you so desire.

Gosh I love mushrooms and we often have them. I do something similar to this apart from the wine. That sounds like a delicious twist.

I love mushroom stir fry, and it’s a staple at our place. But I usually don’t add other veggies to it. This sounds and looks delicious though.

There was a time when we lived in Scotland for a couple of months as the husband had a project there. I ate this dish daily over there. 🙂 You can imagine my love for mushroom. Plus I loved all the varieties shiitake, portobello etc. that are even more flavourful than button mushrooms that we get here.

I love mushrooms. I usually add them while making mix veg. Never tried making stir fry. Well, now I know what to do ?

I don’t like mushrooms and some day I will tell you why. I can eat but if there are no veggies left in the world, maybe then I would head to mushrooms. Having said that, you can make anything taste good. Jadoo hai haathon mein ?
